Today’s Amplifriday spotlight is shining on a newcomer to Kamloops, who through her actions and involvement, is clearly creating positive ripple effects throughout her community, and that’s Anela Baig. And today’s Amplifriday is a doubly wonderful with a double nomination from Tana Jones and Patti Phillips.
Tana writes: “Anela volunteers for everything she can. She is an active Rotarian and helps so much in our community. She is a lovely person, and she goes above and beyond, especially having only moved to Kamloops less than three years ago!”
Patti also writes: “Anela is such an amazing person! She has volunteered at many of our NSBIA events and is on my committee for this year’s Overlanders Day! I can’t say enough about her. Always kind and professional - ready to help whenever needed! I am so very lucky to know and work with her with our community events!”
You might think with all the time Anela contributes that she might have tons of free time on her hands. Not so! She is Division Manager - British Columbia, Senior Environmental Scientist, and Partner at Trace Associates Inc. and opened the company’s Kamloops office which delivers environmental consulting services. Anela shows us that you don’t need to wait to be asked to help – sometimes, you need to jump right in, roll up your sleeves, and get moving. Kamloops is blessed to have Anela to help make life better!

We were excited to amplify the remarkable impact of Anela Baig last week. As a part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individual, and Anela has chosen Walk for Alzheimer's – Marilyn's Memories.
"My close friend Shelia Minten's mom, Marilyn, has been severely affected by Alzheimer's. Rather than sit back and do nothing, Sheila has actively stepped up to help bring awareness to our community and support other families like hers affected by this disease. She is one of the Volunteer Walk Co-chairs for the IG Wealth Management – Walk for Alzheimer's on May 28, 2023. I would love to help amplify this charity and support her family's Walk for Alzheimer's team."
The Walk is the largest annual fundraising event for the Alzheimer Society. Across Canada, Alzheimer's Societies provide programs and services to help people with all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Their mission is to raise public awareness and assist in developing Canada's first national dementia strategy, which aims to enhance research efforts and ensure access to quality care and support for all Canadians affected by dementia.
