Today is a triple nomination for #Amplifriday, and no wonder why. Today’s Amplifriday spotlight is shining on the remarkable, award-winning, and iconic Bill O’Donovan who is nominated by co-workers at the Kamloops Division of Pattison Media – General Manager Leo Baggio, News Director Dave Barry, and Special Projects Assistant Doug Collins.
Bill O’Donovan is the lead news anchor and producer with CFJC television based in Kamloops. He was recently recognized with a 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from RTDNA Canada, the voice of broadcast and digital journalists as well as news managers and leaders in Canada. In the award announcement, RTDNA noted, “O’Donovan has mentored countless young journalists throughout his career, instilling them with principles of accuracy and fairness that have helped make CFJC’s newsroom a model of journalistic integrity.” Not only has he won the respect of his industry, but the respect of his co-workers.
Leo writes: “Bill has reached a level of trust with our viewers that is kind of rarified air in the broadcast world. He’s the kind of person who does the right thing even when people aren’t looking and viewers sense that in him as a news anchor.”
