Queue up 2 Unlimited’s “Y’all Ready for this?” on the CD player. Now we’re ready to share today’s nominated individual skating into the #AmpliFriday spotlight! He’s known widely in the Kamloops Blazers ranks as a key individual and was dubbed a Kamloops Blazers Legend in 2022. And as Dee-Anna Charlie shares, in addition to his many successes, it’s his consistent positive attitude that makes him a delight to know.
Dee-Anna writes: “All I can say is to know Spike is to love him and you will never forget him once you have met him. He always has a smile on his face and a story to tell. Not only has Spike been a remarkable presence for the Kamloops Blazers organization but I had the pleasure to hire him at Dolsons Sports shop where he sharpened skates and fitted the up-and-coming hockey players with new gear - always with a story and a few words of advice! Spike is also well known in the ranching community and is one of the hardest working most selfless individuals I have ever met. I am so happy to be able to call him one of my oldest and dearest friends. Spike is simply the best!”
Spike was born in 1958 with a heart defect and had open heart surgery in 1960, ironic for a person who is recognized for having one of the biggest hearts in the community. Spike survived and thrived, working for over 30 years with the Kamloops Blazers first as Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager and then as Community Liaison. A jersey with his name hangs in the rafters at Sandman Centre, a reminder that even those who play supportive roles are just as much a part of the team as the stars on the ice.
Spike – you are a remarkable person of impact! As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.

We were excited to amplify the remarkable impact of Greg "Spike" Wallace last week. As a part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individual, and Greg has chosen the Special Olympics of BC - Kamloops (SOBC Kamloops).
Torontonian Dr. Frank Hayden's research in the early 1960s paved the way for the first Special Olympics competition in 1968. Today, the SOBC is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through sport. Their mission is to open hearts and minds and create inclusive communities across British Columbia. SOBC Kamloops offers floor hockey, athletics, soccer, bocce, softball, golf, swimming, 5-pin bowling, curling, basketball, Club Fit, fundamentals, and rhythmic gymnastics.
Greg has a longstanding history with the organization.
"I would like the donation to support the floor hockey team. I worked closely with SOBC Kamloops when I was with the Blazers. The floor hockey game between the Blazers and the Special Olympics Floor Hockey Team that originated in 1984 continues today."
Congratulations again, Greg, on being amplified; we are proud to support the Special Olympics BC - Kamloops by making a $100 donation in your honour.
