When I personally think of someone who is calm, cool, and collected, I think of a person who has a purpose in life to make any scenario or situation they’re a part of focused, clear, and successful. This is why we’re so pleased to amplify a remarkable person of impact who holds things together, often behind the scenes but also in the brightness of the media spotlight, and that’s Maria Mazzotta.
Maria is the Corporate Officer for the City of Kamloops, facilitating the work of the City Council. What has impressed me in recent years about Maria is the level of kindness and emotional intelligence she exhibits through her work.
Her knowledge of good governance, little-known (but important) facts and legalities, and the proper process to get work done effectively is incredible. If you ever tune into a City of Kamloops Council Meeting or attend one in person, Maria often sets the tone with a reading from a book, passage, poem, or even song, which is always thoughtful and timely. And although things can get heated, Maria is professional, steady, and brings balance.
Prior to working for the City of Kamloops, Maria has had an impressive career and educational experience, and she uses the skills and knowledge she has obtained in her role today to truly help make Kamloops shine. In the spirit of Maria’s readings before the start of a Council meeting, we think this quote from Dr. Travis Bradberry of the Emotional Intelligence Company fits Maria perfectly, and that’s “Mistakes and pressure are inevitable; the secret to getting past them is to stay calm.”
Maria – you are a remarkable person of impact! As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.
Recently, we had the privilege of amplifying Maria Mazzotta’s incredible impact. As part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individuals, and Maria chose The Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS). Maria explains,
I chose the IRSSS because I believe supporting residential school survivors and their families is critical for Indigenous peoples and communities to thrive and for the broader community’s commitment to reconciliation.
Since 1994, The Indian Residential School Survivors Society has provided essential services to residential school survivors and families experiencing intergenerational trauma in British Columbia. This month, they launched a new podcast, Woven Spirit: Threads of Wisdom, hosted by Jodi Bob, Olivia Kate Iatridis, and Teka Desjarlais. The IRSSS states, “Woven Spirit not only aims to enlighten allies but also seeks to engage a wider audience in meaningful discussions about healing and resilience. This podcast is a vital resource for fostering understanding and solidarity within and beyond Indigenous communities.”
Congratulations again, Maria, on being amplified; we are happy to make a $100 donation to support the IRSSS in your honour.
