Patti Phillips

Amplifriday is all about amplifying remarkable people of impact. Today’s featured individual is a testament to how a small act of kindness can create a movement that can move to involve a community to help amplify your individual efforts. We shine the #Amplifriday spotlight on Patti Phillips.

If you’ve ever met Patti, like me, you’d likely describe her as sunshine. She’s happy, cheerful, and makes people feel lighter from the warmth of her attitude. As the marketing director for the North Shore Business Improvement Association, Patti is often out and about the area, and bears witness to some of the more challenge parts of our society, in particular women experiencing homelessness or fleeing violence. So, six years ago she started the ‘Women Helping Women’ purse drive to collect purses filled with toiletry items, socks, underwear, coffee gift certificates and more to give to the Women’s Shelter in Kamloops. The program started in the first year collecting around 70 purses, and last year topped 700!

This exemplifies why we need leaders like Patti who recognize an issue, and through their efforts, are able to rally others to get involved to make a change. This kindness Patti shows is consistent and not dependent on social status. In fact, there was a news story a few years ago where a homeless woman was sitting near the front door of Patti’s office. Instead of moving her along, Patti showed compassion and as a result, the woman left a touching note thanking Patti for her kindness, to which Patti shared, “sometimes we just need to be a little bit more kind."

So today for Amplifriday, consider who you can show a little kindness too, and how you can either start a movement to make change, like Patti, or contribute to the work others are doing to amplify their remarkable impact.

Patti – you are a remarkable person of impact! As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.

We were eager to amplify the remarkable impact of Patti Phillips last week. As a part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individual, and Patti chose the Four Paws Food Bank Foundation.

The Four Paws Food Bank Foundation is a Kamloops food bank for pets. They support pets and their people during times of crisis. As reported by the CFJC in June, there is increasing demand locally for these specific types of donations.

"Because of the Four Paws Food Bank Foundation, many animals have full tummies. Nikki Lussier is incredibly giving and recognizes a need in our community for helping pet owners impacted by the high cost of living. I am so grateful for the organization."

Congratulations again, Patti, on being amplified; we are proud to support the Four Paws Food Bank Foundation by making a $100 donation in your honour.
