If today’s #Amplifriday had a theme, it would be all about the pivot - pivoting with absolute grace. There are times in our lives where we pivot by choice to do something new, something exciting and with impact, while there are times we pivot because life throws hard curveballs our way and we’re forced to pivot. Today’s remarkable person in the Amplifriday spotlight knows all about pivoting, and has done so her entire life with grace, and that’s Val Venables.
Val is tiny in stature, but gigantic in grace and kindness.
Val used to work at Royal Inland Hospital in the Finance Department. She fondly thinks back to when her co-workers nominated her for employee of the month, and people gathered around her desk to thank her for her service and impact. Although enjoying that job for 22 years, she took an early retirement and pivoted to become a Certified Nail Tech and created a service called Classic Foot Care, a mobile business that provides foot care for seniors in her community. Throughout the years, Val and her husband Dave were active in their local church, leading home support groups, marriage groups and hosting marriage seminars. Just over three years ago now, Val had the biggest pivot of all when her husband Dave passed away. As Val shares, “My husband touched many people, and my prayer is that I would continue to live out his legacy and touch those around me. It’s so easy to bless people. You just have to show you care. A smile and a hello can change someone’s day.”
She is a bright light and a beautiful example of the graceful pivot to create a life of impact.
Val – you are a remarkable person of impact. As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.
Last week, we had the privilege of amplifying Val Venables' incredible impact. As part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individuals.
Inspired by her son, Val selected Diabetes Canada because he developed diabetes as a child and has had numerous serious complications as an adult.
Diabetes Canada is an excellent resource for those affected by diabetes. Its mission is to prevent the onset and consequences of diabetes, improve the quality of life for those diagnosed, and work towards finding a cure. It offers a wide range of services, from virtual learning and meal planning to family and kids' camps, all designed to empower and educate those living with diabetes.
Congratulations again, Val, on being amplified; we are happy to make a $100 donation to Diabetes Canada in your honour.
