Vessy Mochikas

When we are supported and feel safe, we can then thrive and learn. Today’s #Amplifriday spotlight is shining bright on an educator, thanks to the thoughtful nomination by Leann Kopytko of Vessy Mochikas.

Leann writes: “I would like to nominate Vessy Mochikas to be amplified!
Vessy is an incredible advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion for all children, young people, and humans in general. She is passionate about education and anti-racism and is a healthy and positive role model for anyone who she comes in contact with.
Vessy values the stories and lives of those with lived experience, a fierce advocate for LGBTQ2S+, and she honors Indigenous people - the caretakers of this land - and all other nations and nationalities. She is an Educational Leader and is the Assistance Superintendent of Inclusive Education for School District #73. Her ultimate goal is to create an environment of safe learning where all students and staff have a positive and healthy identity and sense of belonging. She balances this beautifully with living a life full of love of family, friends, and nature. Vessy, thank you for all you do!”

Vessy is a bright light in our region. It’s people like her who stand up for others, and as a result of doing so, help others live out and fulfil their purpose. And it’s then when that ripple effect just keeps rolling!

Vessy – you are a remarkable person of impact! As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.

We were elated to amplify the remarkable impact of Vessy Mochikas last week. As a part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individual. Vessy chose the Y Women's Emergency Shelter sharing,

"I would love for my donation to go to the Women's Shelter run by the Y because they support women fleeing violence and not only give them a safe shelter, but often they are providing this safe shelter for children too. The Shelter staff provides a safe, comforting space. It helps connect women fleeing violence to support and resources to transition to a better, safer life for themselves and, often, their children. The shelter has recently renovated and is looking to furnish its new rooms. I'm inspired by the staff who are kind, caring and compassionate and helping their clients on their path from being unsafe to thriving."

General Manager Jacquie (Jax) Brand states,

"We are incredibly appreciative of the support our community offers to the women and children who access our programs. The Y Women's Emergency Shelter supports women and children experiencing violence, offering free 24/7 support, referrals to community resources and a safe and confidential space to land. Violence is isolating, and with the community's generous donations helping these families, they feel connected to their community."

Congratulations again, Vessy, on being amplified; we are excited to support the Y Women's Emergency Shelter by making a $100 donation in your honour.
