Margit Bandura

Sometimes in our darkest times, we can keep moving to create something beautiful. That would truly be the case of Margit Bandura who is shining brightly not only in the Music for the People spotlight this weekend, but in the AmpliFriday spotlight today too!

Ron Bandura, Margit’s husband, was a legendary musician and well-loved community member who passed away last year. He and Margit had started Music for the People – a Cultural Experience as an event that would bring together the music and culture of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples together for a beautiful night of celebration and reconciliation. Rod was able to see and perform at the second, and much larger event, at the Kamloopa Arbour. The third annual event is this weekend, September 8, 2024, and is being shared because of the tenacity and resilience of his partner, Margit. www.musicforthepeople.ca

Margit is a gentle force of nature. She is kind, decisive, and a beautiful soul who was able to rally the community to plan the third annual event.

Her grief and loss of Rod drove her to create the event as a legacy to his music and the mark he made on the community, and boy, has the community rallied. The free event will honour the music of Rod Bandura, and showcase the sounds of the Margit Sky Band, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Sagehill singers, drummers, and dancers, along with performances from Johnny Bandura, Henry Small, Scott Skulmoski, and Jeremy Kneeshaw. It will be an emotionally stirring event, and all thanks to the drive of the remarkable Margit Bandura.

Margit – you are a remarkable person of impact. As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.

Last week, we had the privilege of amplifying Margit Bandura’s incredible impact. As part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individuals. Margit chose the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) in recognition of the eight years her husband’s mother attended a residential school.

The IRSSS has been serving First Nations people in B.C. since 1994 and strives to provide physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth, development, and healing through culturally based values and guiding principles for survivors, families, and communities. Services include grief and loss support, a Youth Justice Program, support for families impacted by missing & murdered Indigenous women and girls, and cultural support by traditional knowledge keepers and elders who can provide guidance, ceremony and spiritually informed direction in healing.

Congratulations again, Margit, on being amplified; we are happy to make a $100 donation to support the Indian Residential School Survivors Society in your honour.
